Box Score The Wright State men's soccer team led 3-1 with just under 17 minutes remaining, only to see Northern Kentucky rally with three goals, including the game-winner in overtime, to pull out a 4-3 decision Tuesday night at the NKU Soccer Stadium.
Peguy Ngatcha provided the Raiders with that early goal at the 1:59 mark as the sophomore forward took advantage of a clear by Northern Kentucky off a corner from Eric Lynch. It was Ngatcha's third goal of the season, all coming over the last four matches.
Lynch then made it 2-0 at the 26:51 mark of the first half. A turn by the sophomore forward at the top of the box created space and he converted the shot for his third goal of the year. Senior defender Joakim Carlsson was credited with the assist, his first of the season.
NKU cut the deficit in half at the 69:12 mark of the second half, only to see Wright State answer right back just 5:55 later as sophomore forward Marquis Payton scored his first collegiate goal. Sam DeRoy started the play with a pass to Wes Cain, whose serve was cleared right to Payton for the goal.
The Norse, however, tied it at three with a pair goals in a 4:11 span, the second on a penalty kick, and scored the game-winner just 1:40 into overtime.
Wright State (5-2-1) opens Horizon League play on Saturday as the Raiders travel to Detroit for a 1:00 contest.
