Three Wright State Raiders have received four honors as part of the post-season All-Horizon League teams announced by conference officials today.
Senior Ashley Sharp was named the Pitcher of the Year and to the first team as fellow senior Honnah Susor was selected to the first team. Madison Whitaker was voted to the All-Freshman Team.
Sharp (West Chester, OH Lakota West) set new WSU records for career wins (60) and shutouts (14) earlier in the season. On the year, she has 13 wins with a 2.35 ERA and 116 strikeouts in 199.2 innings pitched as well as most innings pitched and best ERA in the conference. In Horizon League games only, she has a 1.17 ERA with nine wins. Sharp has five losses this year when she did not allow an earned run. She was named to the first team in 2016 and to the all-tournament teams in 2015 and 2016. The only other Raider to be named League Pitcher of the Year was Nikki Scott in 2001.
Susor (Oregon, OH Clay) is hitting .327 in 48 starts, leading the Horizon League with 33 steals. A third-team All-Region selection a year ago, this is her third straight first-team honor as she received similar accolades in 2016 and 2017 as well as being named to the all-tournament team in 2015. Susor joins Louie Haney (2009-11) as the only other WSU player to receive the honor three times.
Whitaker (New Palestine, IN New Palestine) is hitting .239 overall but .250 in league games with 49 overall starts at shortstop. She has 23 RBI with three home runs, nine doubles and one triple. Whitaker is the first Raider to receive this honor since 2014.
The Raiders will be a four seed in the Horizon League Championship in Chicago this weekend. WSU will play number five Northern Kentucky Wednesday at 1 pm eastern on ESPN+.
