Wright State will take their five-game win streak into Horizon League play with a weekend series against Milwaukee at Nischwitz Stadium. The Raiders have opened the home season with a perfect 4-0 record and have scored double-digit runs in their last three games from Nischwitz.
Peyton Burdick leads the Raiders (9-4) in batting average (.419), runs scored (21), home runs (3), and walks (16). Burdick has drawn nine walks in the last four games and holds an impressive .583 on-base percentage. JD Orr has caused headaches for opponents all season on the bases and has now stolen 17 bases in just 13 games. His 75 career stolen bases moves him into fifth all-time in school history in that category. Orr has been on a tear from the plate in the last three games, hitting 8-11 (.727) with eight runs and ten stolen bases on ten attempts. Last week, Seth Gray received player of the week honors last week from the Horizon League. Gray is hitting .395 and has recorded 16 RBI on the year.
On the mound, Bear Bellomy and Zane Collins are expected to make starts this weekend against the Panthers. Bellomy worked seven innings in a win over the Canisius Golden Griffins in has last appearance and Collins tossed a shutout through seven innings allowing just two hits against Ohio University.
Wright State leads the all-time series against Milwaukee (7-6) 64-56 and took three of four games against the Panthers in the 2018 campaign. Senior Tyler Bordner leads Milwaukee in batting average (.378) and Mitchell Buban has contributed 13 RBI. Jared Reklatis is expected to open the series on the mound. The right-hander was touched up for seven runs by Arizona and BYU in has last two appearances and holds a 1-3 record on the season.
