The Raider baseball team returns home after eight straight games on the road to begin the season. Wright State opened the year against #10 Ole Miss, claiming a 9-5 victory over the Rebels to split the series. The Raiders followed up that performance by stealing game three against #19 Oklahoma State 5-4. On Saturday, the team put together their best game of the season, soundly defeating #9 East Carolina 12-4.
Peyton Burdick hit 7 for 13 at the plate last weekend and added a home run in each of three games.
Zane Collins was credited with the win against East Carolina, throwing 5.2 innings in the game while striking out seven batters. Both players were honored by the Horizon League this week. Wright State holds a 4-4 record and a #32 rank in the RPI.
Â
Seth Gray leads both Wright State and the Horizon League in batting average (.429) and has driven in 8 RBI as well.
Peyton Burdick's 3 homers and 11 RBI are good for first on the team and second in the conference.
Bear Bellomy has earned the majority of work on the mound as the Friday starter, pitching 16.0 innings with a 1-2 record.
Zane Collins has won pitcher of the week in the Horizon League twice for his wins against #10 Ole Miss and #9 East Carolina. Collins has a team-high 13 strikeouts in 12.2 innings this year.

Wright State now transitions to a busy weekend, where the Raiders are set to play four games at home in three days. Canisius comes to town on Friday, followed by a doubleheader against Ohio and a matchup against Dayton on Sunday.
Â
Canisius enters the matchup with the Raiders at 3-7, having been swept by Kentucky in their last appearance. Wright State leads the all-time series 4-1, completing a two-game sweep of the Golden Griffins in 2011.
Â
Ohio has struggled to this point in the season, starting the 2019 campaign 2-8 and scoring just 27 runs total. Wright State narrowly leads the all-time series 19-17-1. The two teams split a series in 2017, and will face off in a doubleheader on Saturday.
Â
Dayton (1-6-1) has recorded just one win this season, but has faced a difficult schedule. The Flyers and Raiders are well familiar with each other. The two programs have played 131 games against one another, with Wright State winning 86 of those matchups. The Flyers took last year's matchup 1-0. Dayton travels to Nischwitz Stadium on Sunday, and Wright State will take the short journey to Woerner Field in late April to complete the season series.
