Fairborn, Ohio – The Wright State baseball team will return to action with two mid-week games this week, beginning with a home contest against Wofford on Tuesday at 3:00 PM. The Raiders will then travel to Bloomington, Indiana to square off against the Hoosiers on Wednesday at 4:00 PM.
Wright State
The Raiders, 18-8 and 6-3, are coming off a weekend where they won two of three games against Youngstown State at home.  Wright State cruised to a series win on Sunday with an impressive 18-run performance. The Raiders tallied 18 hits total against the Penguins of Youngstown State, rebounding from a 10-8 defeat on Saturday. WSU picked up three hits each from JD Orr, Peyton Burdick, Zach Weatherford and Chase Slone. Bear Bellomy, the Horizon League Pitcher of the Week, had a solid outing in a Wright State victory over Youngstown State to start the weekend series on Friday, earning him his first Horizon League honor of the year. He fanned nine Youngstown State Penguins hitters in seven innings of work, tying his longest outing of the season.
Wofford
For the second time in program history, the Raiders will take on the Wofford Terriers Tuesday at Nischwitz stadium. Two seasons ago on March 7th, the Raiders traveled to Spartanburg, S.C. and defeated the Terriers 3-0 in the first ever meeting of the two schools in baseball. The Terriers currently sit at 19-11 overall, and played their first SoCon games of the season last weekend, taking two out of three games from Mercer. Wofford is led offensively by Lawson Hill, who is hitting .422 on the season while playing in all 30 games for the Terriers, with 22 RBI on the season. Hayes Heinecke leads the way for Wofford on the mound, boasting a 6-0 record and a 2.06 ERA. Riley Perlich (1-0, 3.12 ERA) is slated to start for Wright State on Tuesday against a starter to be announced for Wofford.
Indiana
Big 10 foe Indiana awaits the Raiders on Wednesday in Bloomington, Indiana. Hoosier head coach Jeff Mercer spent two seasons at the helm of the Wright State baseball program before moving on to Indiana after taking the Raiders to the NCAA Regionals last season. Mercer had an overall record of 77-38 at Wright State, and has his Hoosiers off to a 17-10 start to the season, with a 5-1 record in Big 10 play, placing them second in the conference behind Michigan. Matt Lloyd leads the everyday offensive threat for Mercer's squad, batting .316 on the season. Pauly Millo has posted a 4-2 record on the season in seven starts, allowing just 2.36 runs on average. Sam Wirsing (3-0, 4.12 ERA) is scheduled to face the Hoosiers, and an Indiana starter has not yet been announced. The Raiders are 7-17 against Indiana all-time.
The Raiders, winners of seven of the last ten games, head back to Horizon League play with a three-game series at Northern Kentucky Friday-Sunday.
