Baseball Set for Mid-Week Tilts

Fairborn, Ohio – The Wright State baseball team (27-13, 11-7 Horizon) will return to home action this week after a weekend road swing to Milwaukee, where they dropped two close contests out of the three-game series. The Raider Gang will play host to the Bowling Green Falcons out of the Mid-American Conference Tuesday evening at Nischwitz, and head to cross-town foe Dayton Flyers for a Wednesday afternoon tilt.

After dropping two out of three last weekend, the Raiders are still just a half game back of the UIC Flames in the Horizon League standings, which leads to a crucial three-game series between the two teams this weekend at Nischwitz Stadium. The green and gold have been paced all season by their potent offense, which leads the Horizon League in every major category, including hits, RBI, 2B, 3B, HR, TB, and OBP. Seth Gray holds a slight advantage for the team batting average lead at .363, while mid-season All-American Peyton Burdick leads in hits (53) and doubles (14). Riley Perlich (2-1, 4.12 ERA) will take the ball for the Raiders in Tuesday's game, while Sam Wirsing (6-0, 3.06 ERA) is slated to get the ball Wednesday when the green and gold travel to Dayton.

Bowling Green (13-22, 6-9 MAC) comes into Tuesday's contest losers of six out of their last seven, including dropping two of three last weekend against MAC foe Western Michigan. Tuesday will be just the second game of the season for Bowling Green against a Horizon League opponent, the other a 15-5 triumph over Youngstown State on March 26th.  The Falcons currently sit in eighth place in the Mid-American Conference, and are 5-16 this season away from home.

The cross-town Dayton Flyers (22-17-1, 10-5 A-10) will play host to the Raiders on Wednesday after the Toledo Rockets come to Dayton on Tuesday. Winners of four of their last six, the Flyers took two of three from Atlantic 10 rival George Mason this past weekend. The Flyers boast a 10-6 home record this season, and sit just a game behind league-leading VCU for the top spot in the A10.

Be sure to join us at Nischwitz Stadium Tuesday evening as we will be giving away tickets to Raider Day at Fifth Third Field, which is set for May 12th at 1:00 PM. The Raiders will take on the NKU Norse, and the first 500 mothers in attendance will receive a free pink Dayton Dragons hat!
