The Wright State baseball team (21-10, 7-5) will return to action on Tuesday after dropping two out of three games against rival Northern Kentucky last weekend. The Raiders will compete in the Joe Nuxhall Classic on Tuesday and Wednesday at the University of Cincinnati, and return to Horizon League action this weekend when the Oakland Golden Grizzlies come to Nischwitz Stadium for a three game series beginning Friday.

The Raiders currently sit in second place in the Horizon League at 7-5, trailing behind only the UIC Flames at 7-4.Â

Riley Perlich (2-0, 2.53 ERA) is slated to take the ball for the Raiders in game 1 of the Joe Nuxhall Tournament on Tuesday, and Sam Wirsing (4-0, 4.01 ERA) is scheduled to get the ball in Wednesday's contest. Perlich went four innings against Wofford last Tuesday and surrendered no runs on three hits. Wirsing got the nod against Indiana on Wednesday, earning the win giving up just two earned runs in five innings pitched. Peyton Burdick continues to lead the Raiders offense so far this season, reaching base safely in the last 28 games, and posting a .414 batting average with six home runs.

• The tournament began in 2009 to honor its namesake, the legendary Reds player and announcer Joe Nuxhall, as well as promote and celebrate amateur baseball in southwest Ohio
• Cincinnati, Miami, Wright State and Xavier have participated in the classic every year
• UC hosts in odd years while Miami hosts in even years
• Wright State has won four titles, UC three, Miami two and Xavier one
