Box Score The Wright State softball team dropped its first game of the Scotsman Invitational falling to Wagner 5-4 on Friday morning in Clinton, South Carolina.
Wagner took an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning before senior
Brianna Hutchinson's solo homerun over the right field fence would get the Raiders on the board and cut the Seahawks lead in half. The second inning wouldn't look much different than the first with the Seahawks earning two more runs before freshman
Payton Baxter's solo homerun over the center field fence cut things in half.
A solo homerun in the top of the fourth inning by Wagner's Kaila Smith would ultimately be their final run of the contest. The next two innings remained scoreless before Wright State looked to answer in the bottom of the seventh inning as sophomore
Olivia Otani recorded a two run homerun to pull the Raiders within one but it wouldn't be enough.
Freshman
Payton Baxter led the hitting efforts for Wright State, going 3-for-3, including an extra base hit and a RBI.
Sophomore
Carly Turner took the loss in the circle allowing five runs off of six hits in four innings of work.
Olivia Otani saw action in the circle, allowing five hits in three innings of work but recording three strikeout for the Raiders.
