Box Score The Wright State softball team used a three run seventh inning to record its first victory of the Scotsman Invitational and fourth of the season over tournament hosts Presbyterian, 5-4, Friday afternoon.
With runners on second and third, Presbyterian took an early 2-0 lead off of a Lath Freeman RBI double to center field followed by an RBI sac-fly. The second and third innings would be quiet for both teams.
Wright State started the bats early in the top of the fourth inning, led by freshman
Emily Daniel's single to left field. Daniel would go on to steal second setting up freshman
Olivia Bricker's RBI single to right field. Sophomore
Meredith Keel's RBI triple to center field drove in Bricker and tied things up at 2-2. The Blue Hose added another run in the bottom of the inning by way of an RBI single. In the bottom of the sixth, Presbyterian added another run to the scorebook.
Meredith Keel's single to right field started the top of the seventh inning for the Raiders.
Rebekah Lenos' single to centerfield advance Keel to second allowing for
Brianna Hutchinson's RBI double to drive home Keel. A throwing error by the Blue Hose would allow for both pinch runner
Erniey Hursey and Lenos to score, giving the Raiders the lead.
Brianna Hutchinson led the efforts at the plate for Wright State, going 2-for-3 with two extra base hits and one RBI.
Meredith Keel finished 2-for-3 at the plate, recording an RBI and an extra base hit as well.
Olivia Otani recorded the win in the circle for the Raiders allowing just four runs off seven hits in 7.0 innings of work, striking out four Blue Hose in the process.
