The Wright State baseball team scored 44 total runs on Saturday afternoon to finish off the series win over visiting Milwaukee, clinching the Horizon League regular season championship with the game one victory and the rights to host the 2021 tournament at Nischwitz Stadium later this month.

The Raiders (25-11, 24-4 HL) bounced back from the game two loss on Friday afternoon with a 24-2 victory in Saturday's opener, keyed by a 13-run fourth inning, before a 20-5 win in the nightcap that featured 15 runs in its fourth frame.

Wright State has now captured the Horizon League regular season title for the third consecutive season (2018, 2019, 2021) and the fourth time in the last five years overall. The 2021 Horizon League Baseball Championship will be held at The Nisch from May 27-29 with the League's top four seeds in a double elimination bracket.
Between games on Saturday, Wright State retired former Raider standout Mike Mathile's No. 20 jersey, making him the just the fourth retired number in Raidergang history.

Saturday's first game saw the Raiders up three runs through three innings, thanks to a
Tyler Black RBI single in the first inning and a pair of run-scoring groundouts by
Sammy Sass and
Alec Sayre in the third. Wright State then exploded for the 13-run fourth inning, tallying 10 hits while sending 17 men to the plate in the frame. Key hits in the inning included a two-run homer from
Konner Piotto, a two-run triple from Sass and a pair of two-run doubles from
Quincy Hamilton and
Zane Harris.

The Raiders put the opener on ice with an eight-run sixth inning, highlighted by a
Alex Alders grand slam to left field.

Hamilton and Sass each had three hits to pace the offense, with Sass driving in five RBI and Hamilton tallying a pair of RBI along with a pair of doubles.
Damon Dues,
Gehrig Anglin, Black and Alders all had two hits.

Austin Cline improved to 7-1 with a two-hit, nine strikeout performance over six innings of work.
Justin Hornschemeier finished things up with a clean seventh inning, tallying a strikeout of his own.

Milwaukee starter Mike Edwards was saddled with the game one loss, allowing eight runs (six earned) over 3.1 innings, while Marcus Cline and Luke Seidel had the two Panther hits.

Wright State jumped ahead early in game two, tallying three runs in the bottom of the first with an RBI double from Hamilton and run-scoring singles from Sayre and Sass, before adding a run on a Sass RBI single in the third.

The fourth inning saw 19 men come to the plate as the Raiders collected 10 hits in the frame along with the 15 runs, all coming with two outs in the inning. Key hits included Sass' three-run triple, two-run doubles from Hamilton and Harris, and a Dues two-RBI single. In total, Harris and Sass drove in four runs in the inning and Hamilton plated three runs of his own.

Alex Theis allowed two hits and two unearned runs with five strikeouts over the first four innings.
Jake Shirk was the first reliever out of the bullpen, improving to 4-0 on the season with a perfect fifth frame.

Dues and Hamilton paced the offense with four hits each at the top of the order, including three doubles from Hamilton, while Sass added three hits of his own, including a double and a triple, as 10 different Raiders recorded hits.

Milwaukee starter Matt McCarty allowed five runs (four earned) on five hits and five walks over the opening 3.2 innings on the way to the loss, while the Panthers' Nate DeYoung had two of the seven total hits.
