Wright State is coming off a series sweep over Purdue Fort Wayne, defeating the Mastodons 4-3, 9-7, and 5-0.
Â
As a team, the Raiders hit .250 over the series, led by Braylen Blomquist's .400 average. Will Cook, Nate Manley, and Boston Smith each drove in three runs, as Cook opened the series with a walk-off single. WSU tallied six extra-base hits, including triples by Blomquist and JP Peltier.

Sunday starter Jarrett Heilman moved to 3-0 in the Horizon League, tossing 5.0 shutout innings.
Â
SCOUTING THE BUCKEYES
Ohio State is 8-24 on the season, going 2-13 in the Big Ten. The Buckeyes are on an eight-game losing streak, recently falling to Minnesota 10-5, 9-2, and 6-4.
Â
The Buckeyes are hitting .266 as a team, led by Tyler Pettorini's .348 average. OSU has 54 doubles, nine triples, and 38 home runs on the season. Pettorini leads the team with 47 hits, 32 RBI, eight doubles, and nine home runs.
Â
On the mound, OSU's pitching staff holds an 8.96 ERA. Nik Copenhaver has a team-best 3.54 ERA over 15 appearances. Matthew Graveline leads the team with 43 batters struck out, followed by Lee Ellis with 28.
Â
HISTORY VS. OHIO STATE
Since 1977, the Buckeyes lead the all-time series 26-21-1. Last season, the two went 1-1, each winning at home.
Â
WINNING THE NUXIE
The Raiders took home the Joe Nuxhall Championship with wins over Cincinnati and Xavier, first defeating the Bearcats 10-3 on Tuesday. After a nearly two-hour weather delay, Wright State defeated Xavier 10-8 in the championship on Wednesday night.
Â
NUXHALL MVP
Sophomore JP Peltier was named the Joe Nuxhall Classic MVP after hitting a walk-off homer against Xavier on Wednesday, April 9. Wright State opened scoring on the day with a four-run first inning, but the Musketeers were quick to tie it in the top of the second. The game stayed tied through the seventh, but Peltier entered to pinch hit in the bottom of the eighth, breaking the tie with an RBI single to left field. Xavier took the lead in the top of the ninth, but in his second at-bat of the night, Peltier launched a first-pitch homer down the left-field line, driving in three runs for a 10-8 victory.
Â
HUNTER WARREN – BATTER OF THE WEEK
Redshirt-freshman Hunter Warren was named the Horizon League Batter of the Week on April 8 after helping the team to a series win over Northern Kentucky. The infielder slashed .462/.558/1.000 while leading the team with 10 RBI on the week, driving in nine runs against NKU and one at Xavier. The Moline, Illinois native collected six hits against NKU—five for extra bases—including four doubles and a home run. He opened the scoring in the series-clinching win with an RBI double in the first inning, then extended the lead to 5-0 with a three-run shot.
Â
AN UNCONVENTIONAL START TO CONFERENCE PLAY
Wright State had an unusual start to Horizon League play, with the first month of scheduled series altered by inclement weather to include doubleheaders. Despite the scheduling challenges, the Raiders won all four series, sweeping Oakland and Youngstown State at home, while splitting two of the doubleheaders — both on the road.
Â
PELTIER'S GOING YARD
Sophomore outfielder JP Peltier has been a consistent power threat, ranking among the nation's top home run hitters. He sits second in the Horizon League with 11 home runs and ranks No. 58 nationally in homers per game (0.33).
Â
HEAD COACH – ALEX SOGARD
Leading the charge for Wright State is head coach Alex Sogard, who has built a powerhouse program during his tenure. After leading the Raiders to a 32-24 overall record, earning their sixth HL Regular Season title, Sogard earned his fourth Horizon League Coach of the Year honor in 2024, becoming the first to do so in program history. Â
Â
His Coach of the Year awards are not the only accomplishment Sogard achieved at WSU. In 2019, Sogard took the Raiders to a 42-17 record, tallying the most wins by a first-year head coach in program history. Sogard led the Raiders to three consecutive NCAA Regional appearances, 2021-2023, being named the 2021 ABCA/ATEC East Coach of the Year. In June 2021, Sogard was named to the 2021 USA Baseball Collegiate National Team coaching staff.

ON THE ROAD AGAIN
The Raiders will stay on the road for Horizon League play, traveling to Oakland for a three-game series starting Thursday, April 17. All three games will stream on ESPN+ and have live stats provided.
