INDIANAPOLIS/DAYTON — Wright State junior outside hitter
Mya Ayro has been named the Horizon League Player of the Week for the second consecutive weekend, the League office announced on Monday.
Ayro finished last weekend with 56 total kills as she helped Wright State win two of three matches in the Tru by Hilton Beavercreek Invitational, including downing Ohio State for the second-straight season. Ayro turned in 17 kills Friday night against No. 7 Pitt, bettered only by reigning AVCA Player of the Year Olivia Babcock's 20, before finishing with a match-best 25 kills on Saturday and 14 kills to lead all players in Sunday's sweep over Ohio. For the weekend, Ayro averaged 4.67 kills per set and hit .300 while adding 10 blocks, eight digs and four service aces over 12 sets.
Ayro and Wright State wrap up non-conference play this week across town at the Dayton Flyer Invitational, taking on Illinois State on Friday before matchups with UC Santa Barbara and Dayton on Saturday. The Saturday night matchup with Dayton is expected to be streamed on ESPN+.
