HISTORY VS. CAMPBELL
Friday evening's game will mark the first all-time meeting between Wright State and Campbell.
Â
SCOUTING THE CAMELS
Campbell enters the weekend at 3-5 with wins over Cal Poly, East Carolina, and Troy to open its 2026 campaign. The Camels are coming off a 25-win campaign a season ago, making the CAA tournament for the first time in program history after moving from the Big South.
Â
LAST TIME OUT
Wright State opened the home portion of its 2026 campaign with a big 8-1 win over Kent State on Wednesday afternoon at Nischwitz Stadium. The Raiders broke through in the second inning when Patrick Fultz belted his first homer of the game, a two-run shot to left center that scored JP Peltier, giving the Raiders a lead they would not relinquish.Â
Wright State put up a crooked four-spot in the third.  Peltier delivered the big blow with a two-run double down the left field line, scoring Hunter Warren and Gus Gregory. Braylen Blomquist later scored on a fielder's choice by Andrew Duncan, and Peltier crossed the plate on a bases-loaded walk by Nate Manley to push the lead to 6-0.
Fultz added insurance in the fifth inning with his second home run of the game, a solo shot, making it 7-0. The Golden Flashes (5-3) finally broke through in the seventh when Sawyer Solitaria drew a bases-loaded walk to score Brody Williams, but Wright State answered immediately in the bottom half when Cy Turner singled home Duncan to cap the scoring.
Chet Lax earned the win for the Raiders, tossing three scoreless innings while allowing just two hits and striking out four. The Wright State bullpen was equally effective, with Michael Bilo and Michael Zielinski throwing solid middle relief. J.J. Thompson closed out the final two innings with four strikeouts.
Â
SCOUTING THE 2026 SQUAD
The Raidergang returns 20 players from a season ago while adding 19 newcomers (10 transfers and nine true freshmen). The squad consists of five seniors, nine juniors, nine sophomores, and 16 freshmen.
Â
The roster features a strong in-state contingent with 54% (21 players) coming from the state of Ohio. But the Raiders also recruit well nationally, with 13 other states being represented in the roster. The other 13 states include California, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Mississippi, New York, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, and West Virginia.
Â
RAIDERS RUNNING IT BACK
In the era of the transfer portal, where many teams lose so much talent year-to-year, Wright State has recruited talent and kept them in Dayton. The Raiders returned 65% of their total production from a season ago, when factored by total points (fantasy baseball points calculation done by D1Baseball), the Raiders rank ninth in total returning production. The Raidergang return 56% of their roster from a season ago, 64% of their plate appearances, and 55% of their innings pitched. Wright State has brought back six lineup mainstays from a season ago, as well as two of its three weekend starters.
Â
IRON SHARPENS IRON
Wright State will challenge itself in its non-conference schedule, with eight of its 12 opponents winning 30-plus games a season ago. The Raiders will also face off against four teams that made the NCAA Tournament in 2025, with Georgia and Tennessee each hosting a regional.
Â
PRESEASON HYPE
