Raiders return home to face RedHawks Wednesday

DAYTON- The Wright State baseball team (19-21, 12-3 HL) will return home to take on regional rival Miami (OH) on Wednesday, April 29. First pitch at Nischwitz Stadium is slated for 3 p.m.

HISTORY VS. MIAMI (OH)
Wright State and Miami (OH) will meet for the 92nd time Wednesday afternoon, with the RedHawks leading the series 47-44. A season ago, the Raiders swept the season series, defeating the RedHawks 11-10 in Oxford on February 25 and 11-3 at Nischwitz Stadium on March 4.

SCOUTING THE REDHAWKS
Miami (OH) enters Wednesday at 29-13 on the season, and 17-7 in Mid-American Conference play. The RedHawks are on a four-game win streak after sweeping Central Michigan in a three-game series over the weekend and defeating Michigan a week ago.

Tommy Harrison leads the Miami offense hitting .406 while also leading the squad in hits (63), doubles (14), home runs (12), RBIs (65), and total bases (113).

LAST TIME OUT
The Raiders took the series finale over Milwaukee in run-rule fashion, defeating the Panthers 13-2.

Chet Lax got the start on the mound for the Raiders and was brilliant on his way to his seventh win of the season. The left-hander delivered yet another quality start, allowing just two runs over six innings of work while striking out five Panthers.

The Raiders would strike first with three runs in the top of the second inning. Braylen Blomquist would open the scoring with a sacrifice bunt up the first base line to score Cy Turner from third base. Patrick Fultz would break open the inning a few pitches later with a two-run single through the left side.

Wright State would break the game open with a five-spot in the top of the third inning. Keegan Holmstrom would get the party started with an infield single that allowed Hunter Warren to score. The Raiders would score four more times in the frame without recording a hit. Turner would bring in a run on a bases-loaded hit by pitch, Manley served a sacrifice fly out to right field, Andrew Duncan would score on a passed ball, and Blomquist would drive in the final run on a groundout to second base.

The two teams would exchange runs in the fifth inning with the Raiders scoring on an RBI double off the bat of Manley.

The Raiders would get two more runs in the top of the sixth thanks to an RBI groundout from JP Peltier and a solo shot off the bat of Duncan. The homer is the second of the season for Duncan.

Milwaukee would score its second run of the afternoon in the bottom of the seventh thanks to a two-run double off the bat of Christian Holmes.

Pelitier would ice the game in the top of the eighth with a two-run blast over the wall in left field. The homer is Peltier's eighth of the season, moving him into sole possession of the team lead.

Wright State has been one of the best defensive teams in the country in 2026, currently sporting a fielding percentage of 0.981. This ranks the Raiders 15th in the country and first in the Horizon League.

Wright State has been stretching doubles into triples all season. The Raiders' 16 three-baggers and 0.40 triples per game lead the Horizon League and rank seventh and fifth in Division I baseball, respectively. Andrew Duncan leads the way with six triples on the season, good for first in the Horizon League and third in the nation. Cy Turner follows him with three on the season, good for second in the Horizon League, and 59th nationally.

Redshirt freshman Keegan Holmstrom has been a professional hitter at the dish in his first season for the Raiders. Holmstrom leads the team and the Horizon League in batting average and on-base percentage; both marks currently rank in the top 150 nationally. His .382 batting average ranks 48th in the country, while his .469 on-base percentage places 146th nationally.

JP Peltier has been spraying extra base hits all over the field this season. The junior leads the team and the Horizon League in doubles. His 17 two-baggers also rank him 21st nationally.

Cy Turner has been heating up at the dish for the Raiders over the last two weeks. Over this stretch, the senior is hitting to the tune of a .448 batting average and a 1.602 OPS. Over this stretch, Turner is leading the Raiders in hits (13), runs scored (13), runs batted in (9), home runs (4), triples (2), and total bases (30).

SCOUTING THE 2026 SQUAD
The Raidergang returns 20 players from a season ago while adding 19 newcomers (10 transfers and nine true freshmen). The squad consists of five seniors, nine juniors, nine sophomores, and 16 freshmen.

The roster features a strong in-state contingent, with 54% of players (21) from Ohio. But the Raiders also recruit well nationally, with 13 other states being represented in the roster. The other 13 states include California, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Mississippi, New York, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, and West Virginia.
