WSU scored the first nine points of the game and extended the margin to 14-2 on a three and fast-break layup by Maria Bennett at the 13:25 mark of the first half. The Raiders enjoyed a double-digit advantage for most of the rest of the way and took a 29-18 lead into the halftime break.

A Molly Fox layup put Wright State ahead 39-25 with 15:05 remaining, only to see the Hornets storm back with a 15-2 run over the next six minutes to cut the deficit to 41-40.

Back-to-back baskets by LaShawna Thomas, however, stemmed the tide and after two foul shots by Shaunda Sandifer, a Courtney Boyd triple again gave the Raiders a double-digit lead at 50-40 with 5:44 to play.
