Box Score 2 The Wright State softball team had a tough first day at the Frost Classic in Chattanooga Friday, falling to Georgetown 11-3 and Ball State 10-0.
Georgetown took the early lead against the Raiders with a run in the first, but WSU went in front with three in the third. With one out, Lindsay Barrett was hit by a pitch and went to second on a Justine Shilt sacrifice. After Briauna Birl reached on an infield hit, Louie Haney drove in Barrett with a single down the left field line.
Birl and Haney advanced a base on a steal and both scored as Kristen Bradshaw reached on an error by the left fielder.
The Hoyas, however, sent 14 batters to the plate in the fourth in scoring 10 runs, taking advantage of five Raider errors, two walks and a hit batter.
In the second game, the Raiders did not collect a hit off of Ball State pitcher Elizabeth Milian as the Cardinals scored four runs in both the third and fourth innings to break the game open.
Wright State (2-7) continues play at the Frost Classic Saturday with a pair of games, taking on Tennessee Tech at 10:00 followed by Evansville at 3:00.
