Box Score After pitching out of a bases loaded, one out situation in the bottom of the ninth, Wright State scored three times in the top of the 10th to defeat Milwaukee 6-3 in Horizon League action at Henry Aaron Field Friday afternoon.
The game was scoreless until the Raiders tallied a run in the fourth. Hits by Jake Hibberd and Moore started the frame and after both moved up a base on a Corey Davis bunt, a Zach Tanner ground out knocked in Hibberd.
WSU extended the lead to 3-0 in the sixth as Moore singled in Hibberd, who had a hit and advanced to second on a throwing error, and Tanner later plated Moore with a single up the middle.
Milwaukee, however, came back to tie the game with three in its half of the sixth and it looked bleak for the Raiders in the bottom of the ninth as with one out, a walk and a single put the potential winning run on third.
An intentional walk to pinch-hitter Mark Strey loaded the bases, but after Jordan Marker got Cole Kraft to pop out to Justin Kopale at short, Michael Schum retired Tell Taylor on a comebacker to force a 10th inning.
WSU then won it with three in the 10th, but the inning didn't start well as after Ashe led off with a walk, he was forced out on a bunt attempt by Kopale. Picchiotti, though, walked and, one out later, Hibberd doubled to right to plate both runners. Moore followed with another hit to right to drive in Hibberd with the third run.
Schum (6-2) allowed a one-out walk in the 10th, but nothing more to close out the game. Hibberd, Moore and Tanner accounted for all nine of the Raider hits and all six of the RBI as they had three hits and two RBI each, with Hibberd scoring three times.
Wright State (22-12, 6-3 Horizon) and Milwaukee (16-18, 7-3 Horizon) close out the series with a doubleheader Saturday starting at 1:00 Eastern.
