Box Score Down 2-1 heading to the bottom of the fifth, Wright State scored four runs in both the fifth and sixth and went on to a 9-2 win over Northwestern Ohio in baseball action Wednesday night at Nischwitz Stadium.
The game was scoreless until Kyle Jeffries walked with the bases loaded to give Northwestern Ohio a 1-0 lead in the fourth. WSU tied in the bottom of the inning as Justin Kopale reached on a fielder's choice as Kyle Mossbarger scored, but the Racers answered with an unearned run in the top of the fifth to go up 2-1.
The Raiders, however, went in front for good with four in the fifth. After Dan Marsh walked, Zach Tanner drove him in with a double to left center. A Tristan Moore double made it 3-2 and following a Mossbarger walk and Ryan Ashe being hit by a pitch to load the bases, Kody Krizman delivered a two-run single through the right side.
Wright State added four more in the sixth as Marsh scored on a passed ball, Moore and Ashe had RBI singles and Krizman had a sacrifice fly to left.
Michael Meintel (1-0) picked up the win with 1.2 innings of scoreless relief with two strikeouts. The final four pitchers of the night for WSU -- Meintel, Lee Valencheck, Jordan Marker and Michael Schum -- shutout the Racers on two hits while fanning six.
Offensively, Moore led the way with three hits while Tanner had two.
Wright State (16-9) now hits the road for eight straight and 11 of the next 12, starting with a three-game series this weekend at Le Moyne. The Raiders and Dolphins will play a single game on Friday at 2:00, another Saturday at 4:00 and the finale Sunday at 11:00.
