The Wright State women's basketball team won the Wright State Invitational Presented by Holiday Inn title Saturday with an 87-71 win over Bradley.

The Raiders took control of the game early, jumping out to a 14-4 lead just five minutes into the contest and going up 20-5 on an Ivory James jumper at the 13:03 mark.  Bradley, however, gradually chipped away at the deficit and only trailed 24-19 on a Kelly Frings three with 7:21 to play in the first half.

Kim Demmings, though, scored the next seven points to push the lead back into double figures and the advantage was 40-26 at the break as James converted a fast-break layup in the closing seconds.

WSU shot 50 percent from the field in the opening 20 minutes compared to 48 percent for the Braves and had 13 more attempts than Bradley thanks in part to a 19-6 turnover differential, which also resulted in a 16-5 edge in points off of turnovers.

The Raiders maintained a double-digit lead through the second half, with the biggest margin being 78-56 on a Demmings three-point with 6:25 remaining.

Wright State hit 15 of 24 shots in the second half, including eight of 12 three-pointers, to finish at 55 percent overall and 11 of 24 from behind the arc.  Bradley, meanwhile, shot 54 percent for the contest, but was just three of eight from three.

Demmings led all scorers with 30 points on 11 of 18 shooting, four of five three-pointers, while James added 17, KC Elkins 12 and Tay'ler Mingo 10 along with five assists.

Catie O'Leary paced Bradley (3-7) with 23 points.

Demmings, who scored 59 points in two games on 22 of 39 shooting, including eight of 14 threes, was selected as the tournament MVP while James, who had 37 points on the weekend on 12 of 22 shooting (six of 12 three-pointers), joined Demmings on the All-Tournament Team.

Wright State (10-3) closes out 2013 on the road on Sunday, December 29, as the Raiders visit Chicago State for a 3:00 Eastern contest.
