The Wright State women's basketball team could not overcome Cleveland State shooting 69 percent in the second half as the Vikings went on to a 98-82 Horizon League decision Sunday afternoon at WSU's Nutter Center.

The Raiders jumped out to a quick 11-3 lead with seven straight points, capped off by a KC Elkins three, only to see the Vikings answer with nine consecutive points of their own to go up one.  WSU again went up eight at 29-21 on a Tayler Stanton layup with 5:58 remaining in the first half, but Cleveland State again had an answer with a 10-2 spurt to tie it at 31.

CSU then went up 38-35 on an Imani Gordon three-point play before Tay'ler Mingo tied it going into the halftime break on a three from the left wing.

A Kiersten Green three put Cleveland State ahead for good at the 17:13 mark of the second half, but the Raiders stayed close and only trailed 75-73 on two Stanton free throws with 6:23 to play.

From there, though, the Vikings took control as they went on a 13-1 run over the next three minutes, to go up 88-74 and maintained a double-digit advantage the rest of the way.

CSU hit 20 of 29 shots the final 20 minutes and made 17 of 20 from the foul line in scoring 60 points in the period while WSU shot 44 percent and was just seven of 12 at the stripe.

Kim Demmings led Wright State with 23 points while Mingo had 15 points and seven assists.  Ivory James added 13 and Stanton 10.

Gordon paced all scorers with 30 for Cleveland State (7-8, 2-0 Horizon) and also posted a double-double as she collected 14 rebounds.  Cori Coleman had 25, Haley Schmitt 13 and Green 12.

Wright State (13-5, 2-1 Horizon) now hits the road for seven of its next nine games, starting on Saturday, January 18, with a 5:00 contest at Valparaiso.
