Box Score Despite Tay'ler Mingo scoring a career high for the second straight game, the Wright State women's basketball team found the offense hard to come by Friday night in falling 57-49 to the Butler Bulldogs at Hinkle Fieldhouse.
Butler scored the first six points of the contest before Mingo hit a three at the 15:13 mark to get the Raiders on the scoreboard. WSU trailed by just one until the Bulldogs went on a 9-0 run to take their biggest lead of the game at 19-9 with 7:27 remaining in the first half.
Butler, which led 31-22 at the half, shot 39 percent from the field in the opening 20 minutes while Wright State hit just seven of 35 shots for 20 percent.
The Raiders started the second half with a 10-3 run, eight coming from Mingo, to cut the deficit to two and later trailed by a basket at 44-42 on a Mingo layup with 5:38 to play.
WSU, however, could never get over the hump as Blaire Langlois scored 10 points in a four-minute span to keep the Bulldogs in the lead at 54-47. Wright State would get no closer than six the rest of the way.
The offensive struggles continued for the Raiders in the second half as they shot 26 percent to finish the game at 23 percent overall. Butler, meanwhile, shot 44 percent the final 20 minutes to end at 41 percent overall.
Mingo finished with 34 points, two better than her previous career-high of 32 she set on Wednesday at home against Dayton. She was 10 of 23 from the field and 12 of 15 at the line. No other WSU player, though, scored more than five.
Wright State (4-2) is off next week for finals before resuming play on Sunday, December 14, with a 2:00 home contest against Lamar.
