Three pitchers combined to allow no earned runs and the offense tallied two insurance runs in the eighth as the Wright State baseball team won 4-1 at UIC Friday night.

The Raiders took the lead in the third as Jeff Limbaugh tripled on the first pitch of the inning to center and came in on Michael Timm's single to right.  WSU made it 2-0 in the sixth as after three straight hits by Kieston Greene, Sean Murphy and Joe Ford loaded the bases, a fielder's choice off the bat of Jack Murphy allowed Greene to score.

UIC cut the deficit in half with an unearned run in its half of the sixth, only to see Wright State picked two insurance runs in the eighth.  Following walks by Sean Murphy and Jack Murphy, a two-out Limbaugh hit through the left side plated one run and Timm added another single through the left side to drive in the fourth run.

The Flames had two runners on in the seventh and one in both the eighth and ninth, but Raider relievers Taylor Braun and Andrew Elliott pitched out of the threats.

Robby Sexton (6-4) was the winning pitcher, going 6.1 innings and allowing just five hits and an unearned run while striking out three.  Braun threw a scoreless 1.2 innings before turning it over to Elliott, who picked up his seventh save with a scoreless ninth, including two strikeouts.

Offensively, Limbaugh and Ford each had three hits while Timm and Greene had two.

Wright State (20-16, 14-2 Horizon) goes for the series sweep with the finale Saturday afternoon at 1:05 Eastern.
