Baseball Drops Regular-Season Finale at Milwaukee

Box Score

The Wright State baseball dropped its regular-season finale to Milwaukee Saturday afternoon by a 4-1 count at Henry Aaron Field.

Milwaukee picked up single runs in the first and second and it stayed 2-0 until the Raiders finally broke up the shutout in the sixth.  With two out and no one on base, three straight singles by Andrew McCafferty, John Brodner and Sean Murphy produced a run to cut the deficit in half.

WSU had a chance to tie the game in the eighth as Sean Murphy and Jack Murphy singled with two out, but a fly out ended the inning.  The Panthers then added a pair of insurance runs in their half of the eighth to round out the scoring.

Brodner, Sean Murphy and Jack Murphy each had two hits to pace the Raider offense.

Wright State (33-20, 25-4 Horizon) opens Horizon League Tournament play on Thursday, May 22, as #1 seeded Raiders face the lower seeded winner of Wednesday's games, which will be either #4 seed Milwaukee, #5 seed Oakland or #6 seed Youngstown State at Kapco Field on the campus of Concordia University Wisconsin in Mequon, Wisconsin.  The tournament continues through Sunday, May 25, with the winner receiving an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
