Toledo, Ohio – Needing just one win to secure hosting the Horizon League Tournament next week, the Raiders (38-15, 19-8 Horizon, 1st place) will round out their regular season schedule this weekend against the Oakland Golden Grizzlies (11-33, 9-15 Horizon, 5th place). Originally scheduled as a true road series, the three-game series will now take place at a neutral location, Mercy Field in Toledo, Ohio, with Oakland acting as the home team for all three games. This change took place due to poor field conditions in Rochester, Michigan where the Golden Grizzlies call home. Due to this change of venue, the originally planned ESPN+ coverage of all three games will no longer take place, but live stats will still be available through the links provided on the Raiders' schedule page.
Oakland will enter this week's series losers of eight of their last nine games, including dropping two of three against Milwaukee in Wisconsin last weekend. In the second weekend of April, the Raiders swept the three-game series against the Golden Grizzlies at Nischwitz Stadium. The Raiders offense will look to remain on a roll against an Oakland pitching staff surrendering an average of eight runs per game.
The Raiders continue to be run-away leaders in every major offensive category in the Horizon League, and the pitching staff seems to be coming into form at exactly the right time. Starting game one of the series on Thursday will be Bear Bellomy (7-3, 3.19 ERA), fresh off of being named the Horizon League Pitcher of the Week, Perfect Game USA Pitcher of the Week, and D1 Baseball Golden Spikes Award Performance for his complete game shut-out he tossed against NKU last Friday. Bradley Brehmer (7-0, 4.29 ERA) will pitch game two of Thursday's double header, and Zane Collins (8-3, 5.31 ERA) will close out the series in Toledo on Friday afternoon. Â
