INDIANAPOLIS/DAYTON — The Horizon League released its 2022 Volleyball All-Academic Team on Tuesday afternoon, recognizing student-athletes for their success both in competition and in the classroom. Wright State junior Sam Ott and senior Megan Alders were among the student-athletes honored in balloting by the League's faculty athletics representatives.
 
Ott has appeared and started all 29 Wright State matches this season, playing in 106 sets as an outside hitter, with 292 kills and a 2.75 kills/set average, both the second-best on the Raider roster. Ott appeared on the Spring 2022 Horizon League Academic Honor Roll, the first she was eligible for, while her work in the classroom has earned her a spot on the Wright State University Dean's List in each semester, with highest honors in Fall 2020, Spring 2021 and Fall 2021, with high honors in Spring 2022.
 
Alders has appeared in all 29 of the Raiders' matches this season with 23 starts, tallying 99 total sets played as an outside hitter, with 255 total kills and a 2.58 kills/set average this season to date. A member of the Wright State Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, Alders serves as the Director of Public Relations for the group and has appeared on six consecutive Horizon League Academic Honor Rolls, dating back to the 2020 Fall listing. Her work in the classroom has earned her a spot on the Wright State University Dean's List six straight semesters, including with high honors in Fall 2019, Spring 2020 and Spring 2022.
 
The Horizon League recognizes student-athletes with seasonal Academic All-League Teams in each of its 19 championship sports. To be eligible for Horizon League All-Academic consideration, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.20 or higher (based on a 4.00 scale), have completed at least one year at the member institution, having earned 24 semester-hour or 36 quarter-hour credits, and participate in 50 percent of the team's overall contests or 20 percent of overall contests for pitchers. An Honorable Mention is awarded to student-athletes who received at least 25 percent of votes, but did not make the All-Academic team.
