DAYTON — The Wright State volleyball team opens its Horizon League Championship run on Saturday afternoon when the No. 2-seeded Raiders take on No. 3 Youngstown State at 6 p.m. inside Truist Arena in Highland Heights, Kentucky. Fans can follow the action via live stats or by watching on ESPN+. The Horizon League Championship match is set for 2 p.m. on Sunday.
Youngstown State advanced to Saturday thanks to a five-set victory over No. 6 Green Bay in Friday's quarterfinal round.

Wright State closed the regular season and locked up the No. 2 seed in the HL tournament with a pair of home sweeps over Oakland last week. Friday, a trio of Raiders finished with double-digit kills.
Katie Sowko had a match-best 12 as she added seven digs,
Taylor Bransfield turned in an 11-kill, four block effort and
Mya Ayro added 10 kills. Saturday, Wright State was led by Sowko's match-high 14 kills as she finished just shy of a double-double with nine digs, while Bransfield notched 12 kills and had two blocks on her Senior Day.
Mya Ayro added 11 kills of her own as
Reilly Zegunis had eight kills and
Elena Dubuc turned in a seven-kill effort on her Senior Day.
AWARDS SEASON
Wright State grabbed five overall honors on Thursday afternoon as the 2025 Horizon League Volleyball Awards were announced, led by first team recognition from
Lauren Yacobucci and
Reilly Zegunis.
Mya Ayro and
Katie Sowko each earned second team honors and
Elena Dubuc was a Sportsmanship Award finalist. This marked the second-straight first team honors for Yacobucci and Zegunis, while Sowko adds the second team recognition to her All-Freshman nod from a season ago. Dubuc has been a Sportsmanship Award finalist the last two seasons.
THAT'S. . .DIFFERENT
Wright State has won five of the last seven Horizon League regular season titles dating back to the 2019 season, resulting in the Raiders hosting the HL Championship in each of those seasons. The last time before this season that Wright State did not host the HL Championship was the 2021 campaign, when No. 3 Wright State fell to No. 2 NKU in the semifinals.

No. 1 Northern Kentucky begins the postseason 21-8 overall. Wright State and NKU met twice, on each other's home floor during midweek action, with NKU winning both matches.

Wright State is led offensively by
Mya Ayro and
Katie Sowko. Ayro leads the Raiders with 372 kills and a 3.96 kills per set average while Sowko follows her with 331 kills and a 3.31 kills per set average.
Lauren Yacobucci has passed out 1,147 assists and has a current 10.52 assists per set average.
HOW WE STACK UP IN THE HORIZON
As a group, Wright State is in the top half of league statistics among Horizon League teams in a multitude of categories, including: kills per set (second, 13.69), assists per set (second, 12.80), points per set (third, 17.00), and hitting percentage (fourth, .218). The Raiders are also third in the HL in total blocks (218.0) and fourth in blocks per set (2.00) while their 143 service aces and 1.31 service aces/set are both fifth in the HL.
