Box Score After scoring 16 runs in the middle three innings in two games on Friday, Wright State added 10 more on Saturday as the Raiders erased an early 5-0 deficit and went on to an 11-5 win over Cleveland State in Horizon League baseball action at Nischwitz Stadium.
It was all Vikings early as they scored three unearned runs in the second and added two more in third to go up 5-0. WSU, however, would turn the tables, starting in the fourth inning.
Singles from Corey Davis and Tristan Moore along with a Zach Tanner walk loaded the bases and after a Kyle Mossbarger sacrifice fly plated the first run, a Ryan Ashe RBI single drove in another. A Justin Kopale walk reloaded the bases for Dan Marsh, who doubled in two with Kopale scoring on an error to make it 5-5. A later Jake Hibberd double knocked in the final run to give Wright State the lead for good.
The Raiders tacked on two more in the fifth on RBI singles from Mossbarger and Kopale, two in the sixth as Tanner and Ashe each doubled in a run. WSU rounded out the scoring in the eighth as Davis walked, moved up on a wild pitch and came in on a Moore single through the right side.
Max Friedman (2-1) picked up the win, allowing two earned runs in five innings while the bullpen of Michael Meintel, Jordan Marker, Taylor Braun and Michael Schum shutout Cleveland State over the final four innings, giving up just one hit and a walk while striking out five.
Offensively, Moore had four hits while Marsh had three and Davis, Mossbarger, Ashe and Kopale two each.
Wright State (14-9, 5-1 Horizon) returns to action on Wednesday, April 6, against Northwestern Ohio at Nischwitz Stadium, starting at 6:30.
