Box Score Tristan Moore hit for the cycle and Wright State collected 16 hits overall as the Raiders rolled to a 13-5 Horizon League baseball win over Butler Thursday night at Nischwitz Stadium.
A Moore double along with RBI singles from Corey Davis and Ryan Ashe gave the Raiders a 3-0 lead in the first and WSU added another run in the second as Moore tripled to left center in driving in Dan Marsh.
Butler (22-25-1, 10-13-1 Horizon) cut the deficit to one with three in the top of the fifth, only to see Wright State answer with three of its own in the bottom of the frame as Davis and Kopale had run-scoring singles and Kyle Mossbarger chipped in a RBI double.
The Raidera tacked on three more runs in the sixth, one on a Moore single, and capped off their scoring with three in the eighth as Moore completed the cycle with a two-run homer to straight away center, his fifth of the year. followed by a solo shot to left from Zach Tanner on the next pitch, his fourth.
Moore becomes the first WSU player to hit for the cycle since Quentin Cate did it at Oklahoma State on March 19, 2010. He went a perfect five-for-five on the night with five RBI and four runs scored. Hibberd, Davis and Ashe each had two hits while Marsh and Tanner both scored three times.
On the mound, Casey Henn (7-3) pitched seven innings for the win, allowing just four hits and a walk in giving up one earned run with five strikeouts. Cody Kopilchack closed out the game by striking out three of the six batters he faced in 1.2 innings.
Wright State (32-16, 15-6 Horizon) wraps up the regular season and the series with a doubleheader on Friday starting at 2:00. The Raiders need to at least split to claim the top seed for next week's Horizon League Tournament at Nischwitz Stadium. Following the twinbill, WSU will recognize its four seniors -- Max Friedman, Dan Marsh, Michael Meintel and Michael Woytek.
