The Wright State softball team dropped decisions to Bowling Green and Auburn as the Raiders opened their season Friday at the Tiger Invitational in Auburn, Alabama.

WSU started the day with a 13-1 setback against Bowling Green.  The lone Raider run came in the bottom of the fifth as Colleen Schneider reached on an error, advanced to second on a hit by Angie Clark and scored as Kate Kine singled through the left side.

In the second game of the day, Wright State jumped out to a 3-0 lead, only to see Auburn outscore the Raiders 12-1 the rest of the way.

WSU tallied three runs in the top of the first.  With one out, Kristi Boreing walked and Chelsea Archer followed with a double to center.  Boreing scored on a fielder's choice off the bat of Lindsay Barrett and both Archer and Barrett scored as Michelle Baker doubled to left.

Auburn, however, answered with a run in the bottom of the first and took the lead for good with five in the second.

The Raiders scored their final run in the sixth.  Kacie Rapshus singled up the middle and after pinch-runner Jess Gorman advanced to third on a Baker hit, Gorman scored on a Schneider ground out.

Wright State continues play at the Tiger Invitational Saturday with a single game, taking on Appalachian State at 6:30 Eastern.
