The Wright State baseball team jumped out to a 6-0 lead after three innings, only to hold off a Bradley rally in the final two innings to defeat the Braves 9-7 Saturday at Nischwitz Stadium.

WSU jumped out to the early advantage with three runs in the first.  Back-to-back doubles from Joe Ford and Andrew McCafferty accounted for the first run and John Brodner added another double one out later to make it 2-0.  Kieston Greene then singled up the middle to drive in Brodner with the third run.

McCafferty singled in Ford, who had another double, to extend the lead to 4-0 in the second and the margin grew to 6-0 with two more runs in the third.  Sean Murphy tripled in Greene and later scored as Jack Murphy laid down a squeeze bunt.

Bradley cut the deficit in half with three in the fifth, only to see the Raiders go back up six with a single run in the sixth and two in the seventh.  Brodner had a RBI single for the run in the sixth and the two in the seventh came on a two-run single by Jack Murphy.

The Braves rallied in the late innings, scoring twice in the eighth and ninth and had the bases loaded with one out in the ninth before WSU pitcher Andrew Elliott induced Drew Carlile to ground into a double play to end it.

Elliott picked up his second save of the year in support of Robby Sexton (2-2), who went the first 7.1 innings, allowing six hits and three walks while striking out 10.

Sean Murphy had three hits to lead the Raider offense while Jack Murphy had two hits and three RBI, McCafferty and Brodner two hits and two RBI and Ford and Brad Macciocchi two hits each.

Wright State (5-9) hosts Dayton Sunday at 3:00.
